Tragedy Hits as Unintentional Explosion at Police Station in Indian-administered Kashmir Takes Nine Fatalities
A tragic blast at a police station in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir has resulted in the deaths of nine people and injuries to thirty-two others, according to official statements.
The incident took place when a stockpile of confiscated explosives unintentionally detonated during management operations.
Sequence of Occurrences
The explosion happened on Friday night at the Nowgam security post, where blast substances taken from Faridabad region in the northern state of Haryana province were being kept briefly.
Local law enforcement head announced that the explosives were awaiting scientific analysis when a "deeply regrettable" accident during processing caused their blast at approximately 23:20 in the evening.
Official Announcements
Security forces verified that this was an "unintentional explosion" and as opposed to a militant action. "Different conjectures regarding the origin of this incident is unwarranted," emphasized the security director during a press briefing.
The security post suffered severe damage from the explosion, with adjacent buildings also being influenced by the intense detonation.
Aftermath and Victims
Several automobiles were "engulfed in flames and transformed into ashen remains, with fragments distributed across the site," according to authority statements.
"The intensity of the detonation was such that some physical fragments were retrieved from adjacent homes, approximately 100-200 meters distant the police station," mentioned an authority informant.
The majority of the casualties were security officials, along with forensic personnel, two investigative imaging experts, and a tailor who was present with the personnel.

The region's Regional Leader stated condolences and confirmed that an inquiry had been commissioned into the devastating event.
"I have commissioned a investigation to determine the reason of the inadvertent detonation. Extremely pained by the fatalities of important persons due to extremely tragic inadvertent detonation at Nowgam police station in Srinagar. My commiserations to the mourning loved ones. I wish for rapid recuperation of the harmed," stated the official on social media.
