Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic sustains a 'gut-wrenching' knee injury.
Triple NBA MVP Nikola Jokic sustained a "devastating" injury to his knee while the Nuggets lost by a score of 147-123 at the Heat.
Jokic was hurt towards the end of the second quarter in an unintentional coming together with team-mate Jones.
His teammate stepped on the footwear of Jokic, and he instantly fell to the court clutching his leg.
The 30-year-old, that leads the NBA this season in boards and dimes, had 21 points and eight assists in the contest before suffering the injury.
Jokic will have an scan on the following day to assess the severity of the problem.
"Immediately, Jokic understood something was wrong," commented Nuggets head coach Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Any player who suffers an injury, that's gut-wrenching, especially somebody as important as him. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"We will continue together. Clearly, currently, I'm focused about him as a person and the frustration of facing a situation of that nature."
