The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Displeasure About Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
