The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
