The Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting Against defending champion Dodgers
George Springer contributed to the Houston Astros winning the World Series in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden World Series since 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, guiding the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three triumph in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, the nation," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."
George Springer has now slugged 23 playoff homers, ranking him third in history trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another person on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that situation except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.
Seattle's team, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.
Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" after his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of this one," he continued.
Toronto's team claimed the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
