Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the gravel trap, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
