New Particulars Surface Regarding the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the tragic demises of renowned film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence residence on Sunday.
A Alarm
As detailed in an account quoting a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an session initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained without bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source questioned several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
Additionally pushed back against circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction also extends to descriptions of alleged "unstable" behavior by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not received medical clearance and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
