Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for committing assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
