Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves experiencing outages on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, producing strong winds topping 109km/h.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Damage

Homeowners reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency response teams received nearly 600 calls for help across the area, mostly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

At the height on yesterday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were predicted to continue along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both states.

Medical Alert

Public health experts warned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the current weather patterns.

This caution comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the state.
